Want to offer freckle tattoos and looking for the right freckle tattoo course? Here's what a course should really teach you: a simple, natural hand technique, an understanding of the different skin types, and color theory to choose the right pigments. And to wrap up, the face-off: online course or in-person training.
Key takeaways
- Habiba teaches the hand technique, with a needle, not a machine: easier, and more natural.
- Skin has a big influence on the result: oily, normal, mature or Black, you don't work on it the same way.
- Color theory helps you understand pigments and avoid unwanted results.
- Mineral pigments in the vast majority of cases (9 times out of 10, with some exceptions): they fade without changing color.
What a good freckle tattoo course teaches you
Freckles are a quick and very popular service. But for a truly natural result, making dots isn't enough: you need a good hand, an understanding of skin, and an understanding of pigments.
The hand technique
A simple movement, with a needle, for light, natural freckles.
Skin types
Oily, normal, mature, Black skin: each skin heals differently.
Color theory
Understanding pigments to avoid orange, gray or a mole effect.
The hand technique, with a needle
There are two ways to tattoo freckles: with a machine, or by hand. Habiba has tried both, and she only teaches the manual technique, with a needle. By hand, the technique is easier to learn, easier to master, and the results are more natural.

Understanding skin types
Skin has a big influence on the result. Each skin type heals differently, so you don't work the same way on oily, normal, mature or Black skin. The course teaches you to recognize each skin, understand how it heals and adapt your technique.
Oily skin
The pigment blurs a little and fades faster: healing gives a softer, blurrier result.
Normal skin
The happy medium: even healing and very good results.
Mature skin
It takes pigment very well, but you need to know how to adapt to the way it heals.
Black skin
A question of contrast: knowing when it will show well, and when it's better not to do it (see tattoo freckles on dark and olive skin).

The color theory class: understanding pigments
It's a very important class. To understand results, you need to understand pigments. That's what lets you avoid unwanted results: freckles that turn orange, go gray, or look like moles (see freckle tattoos gone wrong).

Why mineral pigments, 9 times out of 10?
Some pigments contain an organic orange that clings to the skin: once the rest of the pigment has faded, only the orange remains. Mineral pigments, on the other hand, fade over time without changing color. That's why Habiba recommends mineral pigments in the vast majority of cases, 9 times out of 10, with some exceptions: it's her opinion, and her experience talking. The color theory class explains why.
The program, step by step
- Mapping: choosing the size with the client (S, M or L), drawing the freckles with a felt-tip pen following the natural movement of the face, then getting her approval.
- Pigmentation by hand: freckles of different sizes and intensities, while keeping a light touch.
- Skin types: understanding how each one heals and adapting your work.
- The touch-up, a month later: intensifying or redoing, and knowing how to predict who will need one.
- Color theory: understanding pigments and choosing the right shade for the skin.
Online freckle tattoo training

- Price: an online course costs less than in-person training.
- Rewatch endlessly: in a hands-on profession, rewatching the movements trains your eye.
- At your own pace, on your phone or computer.
- Updates: the technique evolves, and a good course gets updated without making you pay again.
- Support: the trainer corrects your exercises and stays reachable.
The downside: the trainer isn't next to you while you practice. That's why corrected exercises and a truly available trainer matter so much.
In-person training

The pros: live interaction, and instant answers to your questions. The cons: you can't rewatch the movements, the price is higher, and the real questions often come up weeks later, with practice.
3 students max
In person, no more than 3 students per course: beyond that, everyone loses out.
Online or in person: the comparison
| Online | In person | |
|---|---|---|
| 💶 Price | Cheaper | More expensive |
| 🔁 Rewatching the movements | Endlessly | Impossible |
| 💬 Live interaction | No | Yes |
| ✍️ Corrected exercises | Yes, if the trainer is available | During the course |
| 🆕 Updates | Included | You pay again |
“Better an online course with a trainer who's always available than in-person training where she stops answering after a month.”
