Permanent Lip Blush Cost: What You Pay and How to Choose a Lip Tattoo Artist

Comparing lip blush cost from one artist to the next and can't understand why prices vary so much? Here are some simple benchmarks: how much it costs in different cities, what drives the price, what it should include, and how to choose a PMU artist you can trust.

Key takeaways

  • The price depends on the country, the city and above all the artist's experience.
  • It's a premium treatment that lasts 3 to 4 years.
  • The price of the first session and of the touch-up should be clear in the price list.
  • Always look at healed results, not just photos taken right after.

A premium treatment

Permanent lip makeup is a luxury, premium treatment: an investment in yourself that lasts for years (3 to 4 years on average). Fortunately, there are different price points so everyone can treat themselves. A beginner may offer lower prices to build her reputation: that's not necessarily a sign of poor quality.

How much does lip blush cost?

There's no single price: it depends on the country, the city and above all the artist's experience. For example, when Habiba started out, she charged €200 for lips. Today, it's about €350.

CityLip tattoo (1st session)
🇫🇷 Paris€180 to €450
🇺🇸 New York$400 to $1,000
🇬🇧 London£100 to £450
🇪🇸 Barcelona€120 to €350
🇦🇪 DubaiAED 650 to 2,500

Approximate ranges found online in October 2026.

What drives the price

1. Experience

This really matters. The more years of experience a PMU artist has, the more difficult or unusual lips she has worked on. She has specialized, and she's able to foresee the healed result: the more experience an artist has, the more she can see, at a glance, what your lips will look like months later.

2. Specialization

An artist who only does permanent makeup is an expert in her field: she invests all her training in this one field. So she has a bigger library of knowledge, and it shows in the result.

It's like a restaurant

The more different dishes a restaurant offers, the more likely it is that they're not homemade. A specialized artist is a restaurant with a small menu, but everything is homemade.

3. Time spent

The shorter the appointment, the more likely it is that fewer details were perfected. Plan for about 3 hours: to talk, choose the color, draw, then pigment.

“Personally, doing a full lip in one hour would worry me. It would mean I hadn't talked to the client, hadn't figured out her needs, hadn't explained my color and shape choices. And that the finishing touches were rushed.”

Finishing touches take time

Renovating a house is easy. The finishing work afterward can take as long as the renovation itself. That's what makes the difference.

Time spent before even starting to pigment: drawing the lips, then testing the colors on the skin.

4. Neutralization

Lip neutralization (dark lips) takes more work, and often several sessions: the total budget is higher (see our lip neutralization guide).

How to choose your lip blush artist

  • Look at her healed results, not just photos right after the session: the color is always brighter at first.
  • Choose a specialized artist.
  • Read her Google reviews: bad reviews can't be removed, so they're more reliable.
  • During the consultation, she asks you questions about your health and cold sores, and she draws and confirms the color with you.

Red flags

She promises volume, asks no questions about cold sores, shows no healed photos, or starts without a drawing.
